Our Neighborhood
Samish is located just east of I-5 on the southeastern edge of Bellingham. The neighborhood is bordered by the Puget neighborhood to the north, Happy Valley and South neighborhoods to the west, and 48th Street to the South. It has easy access to I-5, making it a convenient location for commuting to other areas of Bellingham or nearby cities. Samish neighborhood is located near Western Washington University and the Fairhaven, Sehome and Lakeway shopping districts.
Samish is home to several parks, including Lake Padden Park, Samish Crest Open Space and Galbraith Mountain.
Area Highlights
Galbraith Mountain
Galbraith Mountain is a world class mountain destination located within 3 miles of the Samish Neighborhood. Over 65 miles of singletrack wind through 3,000 acres overlooking the city and Bellingham Bay, ideal for mountain biking.
The Samish Crest Open Space
The Samish Crest Open Space is a 113-acre natural area and trail network. While part of the main trail along is wide and graveled, other trails are packed dirt and narrower.
Lake Padden
This 745-acre park, in an established urban forest, is a city-wide amenity with hiking, walking, bicycle, and horse trails, a playground, swimming area, boat launch (non-motorized boats only), picnic tables, a picnic shelter and bar-b-cue grills.
